I woke up at 7:15 all excited to see land, and indeed that is what I saw.
It was very green – like Oregon green. A quick breakfast and we were off the ship around 9 AM or so.
Nearly matching shirts, how cute…
We found we had just missed the Newf dog. Dang. Temps. were in the pleasant 70’s, a wonderful surprise. Town was about 3/4 miles away, so we opted for the shuttle bus, which came in about 15 minutes. We hit the mall, picking up some goodies in Dollarama, and had an adventure walking through endless back halls to the bathroom. More walking about town up to the Newfoundland Emporium and Neesh saw it first. Her name is (yeah, I found this funny) Lassie.
We walked, and walked, and Neesh was a trooper. Her pain level is way down being on vacation, and though she has a limit to walking, she insisted on continuing on. So we ended up on West Street with some nice shops and a couple bars. The town hall has this gem. No statues, just weaponry. This one’s for you, Brian.
We were headed back when Steve texted me that he was at the pub. Oops, a couple more drinks I guess. We had a decent walk back to the ship, and Neesh only started to slow down on the pier. Take 3/4 stubborn New Englander and add 1/4 stubborn Quebecer and you have Neesh. We walked by the biggest industry in town, the huge pulp mill. We saw trucks coming down all day, and huge piles of logs outside. Reminiscent of better times up north in New Hampshire.
A light dinner, and we went to the show, a couple of ok dancers followed by a comedian who was hit and miss, but enjoyable overall. The piano player, who was doing Dean Martin music one night, was now just sounding shticky, so we ended up all but closing the Crows Nest.
Tomorrow was supposed to be Red Bay, Labrador, but we were informed due to heavy fog and ice(!), we would have to skip it, so two more days at sea before Greenland.

Silly me, I should've thought of you, but I figured that one was too small for your tastes. ;-)
